Profile Information

About You
I taught school for 40 years and I have been in the fine jewelry, gifts and real estate bussinesses for over 28 years.I was born in Union, South Carolina. My grandfather was a well-known cobbler in Union and I lived there until I moved with my mother to Los Angeles. I returned to South Carolina to continue the family tradition of attending a HBCU school and becoming an educator.
During my 40 plus years of teaching I took jewelry making classes. There are several themes that are prominent in my work. One is an ear that signifies the lack of interest in listening to one another in today’s society. The second theme centers on the lack of balance in one’s life. The third theme focuses more on positive character traits that people display. I represent this theme by casting Adinkra symbols. The fourth theme connects me to my African American heritage and to my artistry by using material from Africa and the decoupage method to make plates that display very unique African designs. Most of the themes incorporated natural gemstones into the artwork. I have made pine straw baskets and quilts. I just enjoy expressing myself.
I am moving towards my new voice to be used to encourage us to receive the love, good health and wealth that God is sending our way.
